{"id":19751,"date":"2013-01-01T11:06:00","date_gmt":"2013-01-01T11:06:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.randian.art\/?p=19751"},"modified":"2024-01-06T11:07:45","modified_gmt":"2024-01-06T11:07:45","slug":"news-art-basel-hong-kong-announces-exhibitors","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.randian.art\/zh-hans\/news-art-basel-hong-kong-announces-exhibitors\/","title":{"rendered":"News: Art Basel Hong Kong announces exhibitors"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>ArtBasel announced the exhibitors to its second art fair in Hong Kong, the first under the ArtBasel brand.&nbsp;Here are the highlights:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>May 23-26, so just before Venice Biennale and then ArtBasel itself \u2013 May\/June\u2019s going to be very busy!<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>245 galleries from around the world,&nbsp;over 50 percent of galleries coming from Asia and Asia-Pacific<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Over 3,000 artists<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>28 galleries with exhibition spaces in Hong Kong (well, that includes Gagosian, White Cube,\u2026)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>48 galleries new galleries<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Four, well, the PR material describes them as sectors (like Berlin pre-1989): Galleries, Insights, Discoveries and Encounters.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Insights sector, sited at the heart of both floor levels (like last year, and good to see its return) will present 47 galleries from Asia and the Asia-Pacific region with curatorial projects developed specifically for the show.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Discoveries sector will present solo and two-person exhibitions by emerging contemporary artists from across the world with an accompanying 25,000 USD Discoveries prize, which will be awarded to one artist in the sector.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Encounters sector will \u201cprovide visitors with the opportunity to see artworks on an institutional scale\u201d \u2013 so this is the \u201cArtUnlimited\u201d section from Basel.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Selection Committee includes gallerists David Maupin (Lehmann Maupin, New York); Urs Meile (Beijing &amp; Lucerne); Massimo De Carlo (Milan); Zhang Wei (Vitamin Creative Space, Guangzhou &amp; Beijing).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The experts for the Discoveries sector are Atsuko Ninagawa, Take Ninagawa, Tokyo, and Finola Jones, mother\u2019s tankstation, Dublin.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Asia Art Archive will also be staging an independent parallel program of talks, taking place onsite daily during the fair.
