N. Ho Family Foundation. The money is to be used to commission works from contemporary artists from China, Taiwan, Macau and Hong Kong. The works will enter the Museum\u2019s permanent collection, and be shown in three exhibitions at the Guggenheim between 2014 and 2017 (source:&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2013\/03\/20\/arts\/design\/guggenheim-gets-grant-to-commission-chinese-art.html?_r=0\">New York Times<\/a>).&nbsp; In addition, the museum will employ a curator devoted to contemporary Chinese art \u2014 Thomas J. Berghuis \u2014 currently a lecturer at Sydney University and Deputy Director of the Australian Centre for Asian Art and Archaeology, who will begin work at the Guggenheim in the coming months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><a href=\"https:\/\/randian-art.s3.ap-east-1.amazonaws.com\/2023\/10\/en\/image-133.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/randian-art.s3.ap-east-1.amazonaws.com\/2023\/10\/en\/image-133.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-14105\" title=\"guggenheim\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Tefaf and Sotheby\u2019s in discussion for a new event in China<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>It has been reported that Tefaf \u2014 the world\u2019s largest art and antiques fair based in Maastricht \u2014 is in talks with Sotheby\u2019s auction house to stage a new event in China next year. \u201cTefaf Beijing 2014\u201d would be a collaboration between TEFAF and Sotheby\u2019s joint venture with Beijing Ge Hua Cultural Development Group (Source:&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/2013-03-19\/tefaf-in-talks-with-sotheby-s-for-art-event-in-china.html\">Bloomberg news<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ben Janssens, Chairman of TEFAF\u2019s Executive Committee, is quoted as saying \u201cWe feel now is the time to further develop our presence in China, one of the most important art markets\u2026Tefaf is committed to contributing to the further growth of the market for European art in China.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Toyo Ito wins 2013 Pritzker Architecture Prize<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><a href=\"https:\/\/randian-art.s3.ap-east-1.amazonaws.com\/2023\/10\/zh-hant\/image-135.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/randian-art.s3.ap-east-1.amazonaws.com\/2023\/10\/zh-hant\/image-135.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-14117\" title=\"dezeen_pritzker-prize-2013-winner-toyo-ito-serpentine-gallery\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Toyo Ito, a 71-year-old Japanese architect has won the 2013 Pritzker Prize, probably the highest honor in the field of architecture. Pritzker Prize jury chairman, Lord Palumbo, quoted the jury\u2019s reason, \u201cThroughout his career, Toyo Ito has been able to produce a body of work that combines conceptual innovation with superbly executed buildings. Creating outstanding architecture for more than 40 years, he has successfully undertaken libraries, houses, parks, theaters, shops, office buildings and pavilions, each time seeking to extend the possibilities of architecture. A professional of unique talent, he is dedicated to the process of discovery that comes from seeing the opportunities that lie in each commission and each site.\u201d (Source:&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/2013\/03\/17\/pritzker-prize-2013-winner-toyo-ito\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">link<\/a>)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>New Export Ban on Chinese Painters<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><a href=\"https:\/\/randian-art.s3.ap-east-1.amazonaws.com\/2023\/10\/%E7%99%BE%E5%B9%B4%E5%AD%A4%E7%8B%AC.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/randian-art.s3.ap-east-1.amazonaws.com\/2023\/10\/%E7%99%BE%E5%B9%B4%E5%AD%A4%E7%8B%AC.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-14109\" title=\"Screen-Shot-2013-03-22-at-1.17.28-PM\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>China\u2019s State Administration of Cultural Heritage has announced an enlargement of the ban on the export of Chinese painters in order to \u201cprevent the loss of previous modern and pre-modern paintings.\u201d Of the list, any works by Wu Guanzhong are now forbidden from leaving China, while the works of Guan Shanyue and Chen Yifei are \u201cin principle\u201d forbidden from leaving China. The \u201crepresentative\u201d works of 21 more artists are also subject to this ban.&nbsp;(Source:&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/sw.sach.gov.cn\/tabid\/1293\/InfoID\/38471\/Default.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">link<\/a>)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Art Basel Hong Kong Announces Artworks in the Encounters Section<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><a href=\"https:\/\/randian-art.s3.ap-east-1.amazonaws.com\/2023\/10\/en\/image-133.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/randian-art.s3.ap-east-1.amazonaws.com\/2023\/10\/en\/image-133.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-14106\" title=\"HKCEC\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Art Basel Hong Kong has announced the 17 large-scale sculptural installations by leading artists around the world. Curated by Yuko Hasegawa, of the Museum of Contemporary Art in Tokyo and the curator of the Sharjah Biennial 13, this section will feature artists such as Jitish Kallat, Chen Zhen, Haegue Yang, MadeIn, Zhuang Hui, Laurent Grasso, Liam Gillick, Raqs Media Collective, Wang Yuyang, and Sun Yung, among others. According to Art Basel director<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Marc Spiegler, the spatial arrangement of this special projects section will be revamped. Also, there will be further announcements about possible off-site projects in the coming weeks, with key cultural organizations in Hong Kong, such as the Asia Art Archive, the Asia Society, M+, Para\/Site Art Space, and Spring Workshop.
