The Power Station of Art\u2019s first academic conference of 2014 kicked off from July 3 to July 4. Attendees to this conference from Power Station of Art included the director Gong Yan and the curator Li Xu; academic committee members included the post-colonial cultural theorist Homi K. Bhabha, Feng Yuan, Ding Yi, Gao Shiming, Li Xianting, Li Xiangyang and Lai Xiangling\u2014who is also a member of the Shanghai Biennale Academic Committee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
After reviewing the work completed at the museum over the past six months as well as discussing upcoming exhibition plans, the academic committee commenced their final assessment for PSA\u2019s Emerging Curators Program. Twenty-one proposals made it into the final round of deliberation, and committee members voted for the top three proposals. They are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
1. Chen Yun: \u201cDinghai Bridge: Artistic Practice and History\u201d [\u201c\u5b9a\u6d77\u6865\uff1a\u5bf9\u5386\u53f2\u7684\u827a\u672f\u5b9e\u8df5\u201d]
2. Pu Hong, Wang Fei: \u201cSmall Leap Forward\u201d [\u201c\u5c0f\u8dc3\u8fdb\u201d]
3. Song Zhenxi, Lu Ruiyang, the Open Question Institute: \u201cMemorandum to the Earth\u201d [\u201c\u5927\u5730\u5907\u5fd8\u5f55\u201d]<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It should be noted that there are more and more programs supporting young curators in China. For example, OCAT is currently engaged in their \u201cCurator\u2019s Project Call\u201d, which especially encourages submissions from young curators who would be presenting their first project in a museum space.
